President's  Message

I get by with a little help from my friends -

The Beatles

Along with the holiday season comes an increase in volunteering opportunities with our club. To make things a little easier for our members when it comes to volunteering, we're implementing some changes. Hopefully, these changes will make your volunteering experiences less daunting and more rewarding.

If you have yet to volunteer with the club, please let us know when you sign up for an event. We will pair you with a buddy so you can learn the ropes! Also, existing volunteers are welcome to buddy up at new to them events, too. Your buddy will be an experienced member who can answer questions about event flow, expectations, and shooting tips. Additionally, we know that some of you have issues using Zenfolio. In an effort to make things smoother, you can put your event photos on a thumb drive and bring them to a meeting. We'll use the club's laptop to help you get your images uploaded to Zenfolio.  Or if you prefer we can share a Dropbox folder for you to put your ready to upload photos in.

If anyone has ideas about other ways we can make your volunteering experience better, please email the club with your thoughts. Your time and talent help us pay for our rental space in addition to creating a visual record of life in Oviedo. We appreciate you!

A Note of Thanks from Recreation and Parks

Thank you to our members who volunteered at the Riverside Park Halloween events.  Erin, Jerry, Christine, Debbie, Frederic, and Susan participated in taking photos at the events and Mike H. took the Halloween portraits Saturday night.  The Oviedo Recreation and Parks Department appreciated it and sent a very nice card to our club,  "We want to thank you for your support of Teenie Weenie Halloweenie and Carnival of Screams. Your generosity made our events possible as well as enjoyable for the community; whom all had a spook-tabular time.  Sincerely Sean Fitzgerald, Terri Martini and Susan Goytia"

Photo Review Meeting

Monday, November 19
 7:00 - 9:00 pm

Bring 5-7 photos from recent events or any recent photos you would like to share. Be sure to use a labeled folder with the date on a thumb drive and rename the photo files with your initials and a number (ex: OP-1, OP-2, etc.) for the photos you want to share. This will keep your photos together when they are being shown and make it easier for our projectionist.

If you have photos that you would like help with, bring them with you!  If there is time, our club members can give you pointers on what to do.

Elections - November 19

We want to give out thanks to Becki who has who has been our Club Treasurer since the Club began.   Due to other obligations she has asked to step down from that position.   At the last Board meeting we decided to combine the positions of Secretary and Treasurer for this year's elections. The positions currently up for election are President, Vice-President, and Secretary/Treasurer.  The current slate of candidates for these positions is:  Erin M - President, Christine T - Vice President, and Paula R - Secretary/Treasurer.  The vote will be at the meeting on November 19th.

Field Trip - Lukas Nursery

Saturday, Nov. 24
10 am - 12 noon

November brings us another opportunity to get together and capture something of beauty or interest on a Club field trip. We'll be going to Lukas Nursery on Saturday, November 24th at 10 AM for a visit to their butterfly encounter followed by a stroll around the grounds. This will be a wonderful opportunity to try some macro photography with the abundance of butterflies and flowers they have to offer at the nursery.

Admission to the butterfly encounter is $6. Afterwards, we'll get together at a local spot for some lunch.  Please RSVP or sign up at the next meeting. Hope you can join us.
